Welcome,
friend, to scroll down through the personal webpages of Francis Donald Grabau. I'm glad to have you drop in for a peek or a stay at this twilight moment before nightfall. While I'm essentially creating this outpost on the internet so that I can be reached for my work as an astrologer ( see Work Information below )…I'm also interested in taking this opportunity to post various poems and essays which, I hope, may be of interest to you. The poems are a history of my own struggles and games with language and thought, and begin back in the late 60's; the essays include themes which have caught my attention over the years: nuclear bombs, dragons, nuclear energy, radiation, homeopathy, faeries, magic, Hawaii, Menehunes, America as a vision trying to unfold, the Earth as Alive, porpoises, dolphins, the Pueblo Culture of the American Southwest, the Skull & Bones Fraternity, the ongoing and continuous physical transformation of all matter -including human bodies and the air, wind, and trees ! Not to mention, of course, the rise of Corporate Fascism all around the Globe!
When I say 'Gnostic' I speak simply of the realm of self-discovery and awakening; and 'Occult' refers to the unseen or 'hidden' realm of energy percolating beneath and within the appearance of things. All of life is a magical ritual to me, and I'm still attempting to fathom just what this word 'reality' is supposed to refer to if not that 'something' which Lily Tomlin's bag lady put on the back burner long ago.
Reality, Real-Estate, Robots, Ring-Dings, Remember me to Osiris, Isis, and Rah; tell them Egypt, Atlantis, Mu, and the remainder of Planet Earth are all on a roll in a Jewish Deli somewhere in downtown Sirius; tell them I'd like mustard on my pastrami; tell them an intergalactic golem has set up shop on the information highway right next to the toll booth, and he'd be ever so pleased if they'd be good enough to drop by, drop in, or drop over. Tell them words are falling out of the sky into Starpath Visions….or quote them these lines of the Gnostic Poet, Shelley, from his work,

They used to illustrate the Holy Trinity for us as kids in Catholic school reading the Baltimore Catechism. It was usually drawn as a Triangle-Pyramid with an All-Seeing Eye inside a cloud at the top. Today internet conspiracy folks recognize that drawing as the symbol of the Illuminati, a vaguely defined amalgam of Bilderbergers, Skull & Bonesmen, World Bankers, Knights of Malta, Freemasons, Talmudists, Jesuits and only God knows who else since the list is very long and frustrating to contemplate, but the single unifying theme they all share is that they are the Illuminated Ones, Superior, Chosen People. All washed in the Blood of the Lamb. Of course Jesus was a male so it really should read, -washed in the Blood of the Ram. But that smacks of the Golden Fleece and they sure can't afford to give their game away with that phrase, now can they!

"The astrology of America's birth chart points not only to oncoming tests from our Progressed Mars but to Pluto, Saturn, and our Nation's Progressed Moon which, as of August 2008 entered the sign of Virgo, the same sign through which SATURN is currently transiting, the sign in which America's slippery NEPTUNE function operates. "The “shadow government” of America is found in the placement of Pluto in Capricorn in America’s birth chart, and Mars is the planet which astrologers claim is “exalted” in Capricorn. For the next 80 years as the Nation’s Mars function remains Retrograde it is of urgent importance that we Americans confront our violent shadow. It is virtually assured that we will, one way or another, and that our Mars to Neptune penchant for avoiding the meaning and results of our actions has come to an end.
I don’t say this out of purely philosophical beliefs I may hold, but because Mars, Pluto, and Neptune are the key players in America’s economic life and our economy is in deep trouble. In fact, America is all but bankrupt. Stocks and bonds may be doing well, and the Federal Government may issue as many distorted, Enron-like reports on the marvelous statistics of the Nation’s growth as it wishes to, but the typical worker in America is in debt up to his ears and going broke. Mr. & Mrs. America know that the cost of food, rent, gas, and every other needed consumer-worker item is climbing steadily. It’s called inflation, and the Government’s attempt to lie about this reality is part and parcel of the Mars to Neptune square I’m discussing here at some length. It continues throughout the year of 2007 and promises to go ‘critical’ as transiting Pluto engages America’s Progressed Neptune on these dates:

I do not think it wise to be "celebrating" a false "victory". We are going down, and the Shadow Government which brought us the events of 911, the Patriot Act, and the Military Commissions Act have undoubtedly staged these elections and this "Democratic Victory" as a "happy" distraction designed to take advantage of the confusing and illusory thought (Mercury Retrograde in Secretive Scorpio) currently saturated with Neptune in Aquarius glamor which pervades the current human 'atmosphere'. Barbara Kristaponis"To fuse video & poetry", è pure il dichiarato tentativo di Don Grabau e Al King, tra i primi a teorizzare e praticare di videopoesia in terra nordamericana, favoriti o spinti da specifici Workshop tenuti all'interno delle Università lungo tutto gli anni Settanta.
Il punto di partenza di queste esperienze coincide perfettamente con l'identificazione del testo poetico come guida principe nella realizzazione della videopoesia, "the speaker of the poem, as the person providing the rhythm". Quindi la vocalità è affidata alla lettura di una poesia, senza aprirsi verso i più ampi settori della poesia sonora. Considerando poi il coinvolgimento diretto del pubblico nell'atto creativo, improvvisato nell'uso della telecamera, in aggiunta al movimento di alcuni mimi o danzatori predisposti all'assetto didascalico, è fin troppo evidente rilevare che simili eventi sono ascrivibili più all'ambito della performance che della videopoesia, come si evince anche dall'utilizzo di uno strumento tecnologico sofisticato come il time-delay-/feedback system, più in funzione emotivo-narcisistica che di effettivo dialogo strutturale con il poema, "a pure expression of video where the poet can work with a kind of image echo&decay - you can watch yourself repeat the same gesture, listen to yourself say the same words, see/feel/hear them literally recede into oblivion; all the while new gestures, images sounds take place".
Durante l'ennesimo Worshop, tenuto nell'estate del 1976 (sostenuto dal Poets &Writers, Inc., dal New York State Council on the Arts e dal Center for Music, Drama, Art in Lake Placid, New York), i nostri due autori, Grabau e King hanno saputo elaborare un metodo, che per quanto carente esso possa essere, rappresenta pur sempre uno dei primissimi tentativi di abbordare, prima teoricamente, poi in pratica, la materia video e la materia poesia, evitando approcci approssimativi.

" Kubrick's use of Fidelio as the password admitting Tom Cruise in the guise of Doctor Bill to the life threatening inner circles of Ceremonial Mind-Control, astutely highlights the themes of Redemption and 'Humanity versus Tyranny' implicit in that opera, and contrasts them dramatically with the unheroic and tawdry events of Bill's economically up-scale life. He's not saved at Somerton by his faithful wife, as Florestan is saved by his in Fidelio; nor is Doctor Bill the freedom fighter against Political Despotism whom Beethoven depicted in Florestan. The subtle irony of having Nick, the Nightingale and Piano Player, inadvertantly give the F password to Bill whose Death Threat would come to him accompanied by dissonant Piano sounds continuously moving through the note of F-sharp in a deliberately enigmatic film concluding on the final word "FUCK" ...is Kubrick at his best. "

A gloved message received through the Janus Gates of Somerton. Merry Christmas ? Not at all; the Somerton Saturnalia, Ceremony of Saturn -ringed planet of political-economic Authority. Focus. Close-up. Motion detecting cameras. Surveillance. Big Brother's watching you. The Hierophant is Law. The velvet glove masking the hand of power. That hand extended through wrought-iron hearts arraigned in a row and pierced by the fleur-de-lis. Aristocratic Heraldry, the Divine Right of Kings, of Cardinals, of Chief Executive Officers. Stalin.
